ESSR 2023

Dear friends, dear colleagues,

On behalf of the ESSR, it is our pleasure to welcome you to the 30th Annual Scientific Meeting of our society. It will be held in Bilbao, Spain from the 22nd to the 24th of June 2023.

The congress venue will be the Euskalduna Conference Centre, which is in the very heart of the city. It is within walking distance of most of the city’s hotels and stands close to Bilbao’s major museums. Bilbao International Airport connects the city with more than 50 direct European destinations.

Bilbao is a city in vogue. It has become a reference point as a destination for business, tourism, and leisure. It is famous for its quality of life including most international restaurants in the world. Here you will have the opportunity to walk on the riverside, go to the beach, know the green landscapes of the Basque Country, and taste our wines and our famous “pintxos” (a uniquely Basque version of tapas) in the beautiful old town.

Bilbao is particularly well known for its avant-garde contemporary designs and fascinating architecture, especially the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao (designed by Franck Gehry), but also the Fine Arts Museum, the Azkuna Zentroa (by Philippe Starck), the Zubizuri Bridge and the airport by Calatrava and the Isozaki Towers.

This year’s main topic will focus on “Ankle and Foot Imaging”. We will be reviewing the most significant advances in musculoskeletal imaging with a multidisciplinary approach. At the same time, subcommittees will also prepare very interesting programs that will give us the chance to update on hot topics in the fields. Of course, as well scientific sessions and electronic posters together with pre-congress workshops will be available and cover all aspects of musculoskeletal imaging.

Congress participants will be welcomed on Friday at the welcome reception in the congress venue, and the gala dinner at the seaside of the Real Club Marítimo del Abra on Saturday.

We think this meeting is an excellent opportunity to travel to the wonderful northern Spanish coast, meet old friends and make new friendships, and increase scientific collaborations.
